Goals

  • To show that learning a second language is not difficult, and that most people can achieve basic fluently within three months
  • To explain Stephen Krashen's theory of language acquisition - based on Comprehensible Input, and why it's so good, and why it's now understood by be the only way people acquire language (and fluency)
  • To share and explain exactly what is needed and what isn't. For example, Exercise and drills are neither necessary nor sufficient
  • To explain the failure of skills based training and why it is essential a waste of time. This includes most current school-based curriculums, and most, if not all, language learning apps. For example, one mistake of modern teaching, is to assume that a conscious understanding of grammar is a prerequisite to acquiring communicative competence (It's not).
  • To teach you about your french brain and how that can help you understand the process of acquiring a new language and importantly WHY it works.
